Issues - Developing Regional Transit and Balanced Transportation Systems

Gail works on a wide variety of transportation and transit projects, both in District 3 and countywide. She serves as Vice Chair of the Hennepin County Regional Rail Authority and has worked tirelessly to bring light rail to the southwest metro. Thanks to her leadership, the SW LRT is well-positioned to garner federal support and to be the third LRT corridor in the Twin Cities, following Hiawatha and the Central Corridor.
In her work, Gail seeks to balance the needs of pedestrians, bikes, cars and other transit options on our roads and transit corridors. She co-authored Hennepin County's Complete Streets policy, the first county policy of its kind in Minnesota. Her diverse work on transit includes closing gaps in the county's extensive bike trail system, promoting transit oriented development, and working with neighbors and businesses on road reconstruction projects throughout the 3rd district.
