Issues - Ending Homelessness

One of Gail's top priorities is ending homelessness in Hennepin County by 2016. In 2006, she co-chaired the commission that developed "Heading Home Hennepin: A Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness in Minneapolis and Hennepin County." Her efforts helped bring Project Homeless Connect to Minneapolis. Project Homeless Conncet events have been held at the Minneapolis Convention Center twice annual since December 2005.

Gail has fought for county funding for affordable housing, creating the Affordable Housing Incentive Fund that has provided new housing opportunities for more than 3,000 families in Hennepin County.

In honor of her leadership in this area, the National Alliance to End Homelessness gave Commissioner Dorfman their Public Sector Achievement Award for 2008
